520 _aThe three volumes of the historical part of the Akbarnama have been translated by Mr. H. Beveridge, I.C.S., with an introduction, explanatory notes and an index at the end. The translation has been made from the Bibliotheca Indica edition of the text in consultation with several manuscripts in the British Museum, the Indian office and the Royal Asiatic Society's Library. Should we not be grateful to Allamah Abul Fazl for the Akbarnama which he wrote eloquently over so many years till he was murdered by Jehangir, Akbar's unworthy son? Where should we have looked for a knowledge of many important facts of Indian history, its culture, tradition, had there been no Akbarnama? These three volumes cover the period from 1542 A.D. to 1605 A.D.
